Came across your blog because of this post. I've got mine coming in the mail in a few days. Over the years, I've tried a few but sold or gave away to other people who needed it more than I did. From what I can tell, this seems like the best bang for your buck.

I appreciate you reading! I'd agree with your assessment there, I ended up switching to a Unihertz Titan Pocket during this summer, but the Schok Classic worked well for me for what I needed it for

I've heard about that one! I do like the physical keys. For me, it's having something that can be internet free. Considering how much of my day is spent online for my job, I don't want a phone that has a bunch of apps to keep me distracted. No matter how disciplined I get, I want to remove the temptation as much as possible.

How has the shift been for you?

It's kind of embarrassing when I type it out, but it's worked for me: Unihertz has a "Student Mode", locked behind a six-key PIN, with which I block the use of every app on the phone and whitelist the ones I need or at least don't find to cause problems for me (like I have the web browser blocked because I used to spend too much time looking at it). So I can completely block myself from using the internet with that method, and I have the PIN saved in a text file on an old computer I don't use much in case I really need to download a new app or something.

It is like a little weird to use the parental control app like that, but it gets the job done well enough for me. I feel the same way, I'm on a computer for my job for the most part and I try to stay offline as much as I can when I'm not working

I mean, that's pretty much what I do with my Pixel 6 right now. I saw the Shock Classic has that option now as well, which is huge. Selling point for me, for sure.

And it shouldn't be embarrassing, but I get it. I'd rather admit I do need help than keep acting like I don't!
