I recognize that it’s awkward to be posting on two platforms like this. I think my rule of thumb is that anything over ~1200 words is JoeBush.net material and anything beneath that is Substack material. I’m proud of the fact that I was able to meander all the way to what feels like a reasonable conclusion here, given how many essays I left abandoned last year when I realized I couldn’t find an ending for them. Hopefully that’s a sign of good things to come.
